The story so far

LONDON born producer collective, Crazy Cousinz formed in 2007 and rapidly made a name for themselves on the underground music scene with mainstream recognition following soon after. The concept behind the self explanatory name was to introduce fresh and exciting music to the rapidly evolving UK House scene and to date, Crazy Cousinz have accomplished just that.

The producers' latest release is a compilation/album which showcases some of their most popular tracks alongside some of the other big names in Funky House. 'This is UK Funky House Vol I presented by Crazy Cousinz' is a double CD joint venture between the group's management label, Defenders and major label Warner Music. CD 1 works almost as Crazy Cousinz Album with some of their hottest remixes for artists such as Estelle, Alesha Dixon, Jay Sean, K.I.G. and Lemar as well as original tracks, whilst CD 2 provides an all star Funky House line up with some of the biggest tracks from the past 12 months.

Not just limited to Funky House music, Crazy Cousinz come from a very diverse musical background. Classically trained musician Flukes has individually produced well known pop and grime hits such as 'Fallin' by Sadie Ama and 'Wifey Riddim' and 'Hood Economics' by Tinie Tempah. Paleface, started out as a drum and bass producer and more recently was named 'King of the Bassline' by his fans. He's been DJing since in his early teens and has produced popular garage and bassline hits such as 'Messy' - Gemma Fox, 'Like a Feather' – Nina J and 'Danger' – Stone Cold GX. Kodi started out in the industry as a studio engineer working with a range of grime, hip hop and bashment artists from Giggs to Styloh G to name a few. Last but not least, Play, both a producer and a DJ, first became involved in the industry through promoting and hosting some of the most popular urban club nights in London. Although varied in genres, the Cousinz share a passion for making good music and their different backgrounds have complimented each other and resulted in their unique sound.

The first release from Crazy Cousinz, was 'Bongo Jam' featuring vocalist Calista of Big Brother Celebrity Big Brother fame. The track gained recognition when it was used within the Big Brother series, and on ITV's hilarious Harry Hill's TV Burp as an ongoing skit throughout two episodes. Bongo Jam was released through independent record label Defenders and received great feedback from the likes of American R&B singer Kelly Rowland who stated 'I love that record!' on number one R&B DJ Trevor Nelson's Radio 1 show. Soon to follow 'Bongo Jam' came 'Do You Mind', a collaboration with soulful and melodic vocalist Kyla. 'Do You Mind' was a huge success in the UK and around Europe and reached number 4 in the UK Dance charts and number 48 in the UK National charts.

The Cousinz are grateful for the early support which was shown from well established DJs in the Funky House Scene such as DJ MA1, DJ Naughty, Marcus 'Ayia Napa' Nasty, Scholar T and Pioneer to name just a few, which allowed the Funky House listeners and ravers as a whole to become increasingly aware of their music. Tours, live PAs and DJ sets around the country and at events such as Persona, Red Carpet, My House and Decorum, interviews on over 50 radio stations with the likes of Pete Tong, Jes Welham, Annie Mac, DJ Cameo, Mista Jam, Scottie B and Rampage plus massive internet support through Myspace, Youtube and Facebook have also helped expand Crazy Cousinz as a recognised brand.

2009 and beyond is set to be extremely busy for Crazy Cousinz. In addition to the album/comp, the much anticipated clothing range launches in June with men's and women's collections including underwear, shirts and casual wear plus Crazy Cousinz accessories such as record bags and laptop cases.

19 year old band member Flukes says: 'We're really excited about the release of our comp, we've been making music for a long time now and this is one of our biggest achievements. There is so much planned for 2009 with the forthcoming clothing range, new original tracks and remixes we all feel blessed to have this opportunity of a lifetime.'

The forthcoming track releases include Daydreaming' with Kyla and 'It's That Funky' featuring MC Versatile ('Tell Me' Feat Katy B) 'so watch this space!
