Defenders sign JV with Atlantic!

CRAZY Cousinz’ and MC Versatile’s label and management have signed a deal with major label Atlantic to release the track currently causing a stir on the underground, ‘It’s That Funky.’

The tune will be immediately familiar to anyone with one toe in the ‘80s as a rework of the Cameo classic Candy. Produced by Flukes, ‘head chef’ of the Crazy Cousinz collective, and featuring the vocal talents of MC Versatile, ‘It’s That Funky’ is an overhaul of an old favourite and an instant anthem for the new UK funky following, the latest subgenre created from the British urban scene’s state of constant innovation.  The track is richly layered with bass and keyboards (all played by the multi-instrumentalist Flukes) and underpinned by the trademark Crazy Cousinz beat, which makes their tunes feel so right, whether heard in clubs, cars or headphones.

Club goers in the UK, Ibiza and Ayia Napa proved the accompanying ‘It’s That Funky’ (Electric Slide) dance is as popular as the track with thousands of people following the routine during live PAs over the past few months. ‘It’s That Funky’ is set for release early October 2009 and is definitely going to do some damage!
